DFMOD MD3 Skinning/Texturing Tutorial

This tutorial shows how to produce a skin, this is a special texture for a 3D model.
The currently very common Q3A engines use the MD3 file format for the models
and JPEG or TGA for the textures.

Tools used in this tutorial:
Hint: If you save your images as JPEG try different compression levels
and take the level that compresses the texture best without artifacts
since these will appear really ugly in the game!



  • The model



  • Step 1 - Locating the polygons



  • Now we know which polygons belong to what side on the model, we can start drawing!
